Google+ has launched a new ‘Local’ tool that can be used to search and share details about the nearby places such as hotels, restaurants, spas, museums etc. Apart from tapping the ‘Circles’ or network of the user, the service also gets details from Zagat. Zagat has been recently bought by Google.

You can check out the ‘Local’ tab on the right side of Google+ page. It is very easy to access and helps you in searching for places around you. For example, if you are looking for store or restaurant through this tab, you will see photos related to the the same on the Google+ page along with the Zagat scores. The page also shows reviews from various people and information like working hours, addresses etc.

Zagat has been acquired by Google in September 2011. More than 100 countries are scored and 35,000 reviews are brought to the community of Google+. This new service is quite useful and offers relevant and interesting results. The results can also be filtered based on their importance. For example, ‘People Like You’. From here, you will get the information from the people you really trust.

When you will open Google+, you will find this information in Google searches through Google Maps & mobile. You can use this feature only on Android phones. However, Google will soon introduce it on iOS devices.

In case you have not logged in to Google+, the reviews & recommendations of Zagat will pop up when you do a search. However, you will be able to check out a lot of details as to where your friends are dining if you sign in to Google+.

If you are going to a particular city for the first time, you can check out Google+ Local to see which are the places highly rated by your friends. The service will give similar recommendations.

Once you have searched and seen the recommendations given by your friends, you can also make reservations by using the service. It has integrated with Open Table. Therefore, making reservations has become easy.

This new service will definitely build trust in the Google+ community.
