SEO, Online Trends and Consumer Behaviour – Optimise Your Site
If you want to improve your PageRanks, you should not only pack your posts and blogs with keywords, but you should be giving heed to trends in global search to be in the know of Search Engine Optimisation trends. Search engines such as Google have provisions like the Google Keyword Tool that would let you know what the popular key words are and what are the terms that are being searched. It is necessary for people who post stuff on the internet and expect readers to websites and blogs to go through the popular keywords that are used for search. Simultaneously, website administrators and writers would also do good to keep track of buyer trends.
Consumer Trend One – Increased Online Usage: This recession has seen a surge in the number of people shopping for stuff online. While the actual number of consumers walking into retail stores and outlets has fallen down drastically, the downward trend has been compensated for by a hike in the number of shopping transactions being done online.
Consumer Trend 2 – Consumers want to be Better Informed: The next revelation is that, these people who spend a lot of time shopping online actually visit not just one but a lot of sites before they make a buying decision. On an average, the number of online consumers who look up for products or services at ten sites or more is 20%. When one fifth of consumers look for information in 10 sites before they actually buy, the implications are two-fold for businesses: 1 – you have a better chance of getting visitors to your site, even if you are not the first among page ranks; 2 – even if you are the first in page ranks, you still have at least 9 more competitors when it comes to, perhaps, 20% of your target market!
Consumer Trend 3 – Consumers Use Search Phrases: Further, there is evidence that consumers these days are using search phrases more, when compared with single-word keywords of the yesteryears. For instance, if you offer a travel service and your offer is based on a keyword search that uses “Air Travel”, you could potentially be missing out on a whole lot of people who search for “Discount Air Travel”. While Air Travel was being searched by 1,500,000 people, as many as 673,000 prospective consumers were actually searching for “Discount Air Travel”. As you can see, consumers come up with keyword phrases that would get them more relevant results these days.
SEO is not just technical stuff – it has a lot to do with consumer behaviour and research. Websites making the most of SEO should keep a firm eye on the basics.
