Growth Phase of your Blog
If you are a new blogger, I bet you are a regular at one of those sites that churn out the stats. You are just waiting to cash in on your success. However, it’s not that simple. You will be required to endure some more patience and persistence before you achieve anything.
Your blog could have all the right pre-requisites for a good start. The content is excellent, domain name is appealing etc. In addition, you have created user friendly categories on your website and the tags used are appropriate. However, the blog has not gained much traffic!
Don’t fret, patience is the key! ‘Slow and steady always wins the race’ and so keep working at it diligently. Blogging success requires a lot of time and dedication. Don’t get discouraged early on. It happens with almost every blog. The reason for this is that blogs show an exponential growth pattern.
What exactly does an exponential growth pattern indicate? In the starting, your blogging business will not grow much. Because, it will take time for the world to know of the existence of your web space. In the beginning, your progress will remain at a plateau not showing much growth. It will spike only later on. However, when it starts to increase, it will mount at a jet speed. Thus it will follow an exponential growth pattern.
Do not sit idle during this time, instead use it productively. Most bloggers get confused or lost in this crucial phase. However, this time can be used resourcefully to monitor progress. If one goes wrong during this stage, then it will be too late to repair the damage. It is the ideal time to experiment with your blog, and make any changes that are not a proper fit. Understand visitor perception, likes and dislikes at this stage.
Keep gauging the success of your blog periodically. Try to determine the extent of its popularity. The number of visitors is the most important indicator. In addition, there are guest posts, blog posts and comments.
This is also a nice time to invest in advertising your blog. Try to increase the visibility of your blog, then the returns yielded will be greater. Create links backs on sites that your targeted audience are likely to visit. Make your presence felt on social media platforms such as facebook, twitter, reddit etc.
